Manufacturing sector for a sustainable economy

Taken together, the leading companies located in the port area form the backbone of North Sea Port's development. Raw materials, parts and semi-finished products arrive in the port on ships and are processed into final products here. This represents unique added value for the activities taking place in the port area in the form of new valuable opportunities for growth and employment.

Sustainability and employment

A global leader in steel manufacturing operates in our port. They manufacture high-quality sheet steel used to make things like cars and household appliances. All phases of steel production take place here at a single commercial site where some 6,000 people work.

A leading heavy truck manufacturer provides jobs for between 5,000 and 6,000 people. That plant also generates its own heating warmth and electricity in a CO2-free method, thanks to clever modifications to the boilers, the use of wind turbines, solar panels, purchasing ‘green’ power and taking measures to conserve energy. In fact, it is the world's first CO2 neutral car manufacturing plant.
