Danish shipping company DFDS extends green corridor in Europe with first all-electric truck in North Sea Port

Thanks to innovative new sorting line, Ghent-based waste management company Veolia now recycles one-third more industrial waste in North Sea Port
On Thursday 27 October, Veolia opened a new sorting line in the Ghent section of North Sea Port. This line will ensure that up to 35% of the incoming bulk industrial waste is recycled into new raw materials. As a result, some 21,000 tons of waste will be put to new use each year.
Volvo Trucks to build battery modules for battery packs in North Sea Port from 2025
In 2025, Volvo Trucks will start building battery modules for battery packs for its electric trucks in Ghent. This represents an investment of €75 million. After the summer of 2023, the production of electric trucks will also start at the Ghent facility.

North Sea Port records decline in cargo throughput in first quarter of 2024
Seaborne cargo transhipment at North Sea Port fell by 3.2% in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2023. The decrease was seen mainly in dry bulk throughput. Transhipment via inland waterways did experience growth.
