North Sea Port Supervisory Body appoints Cas König as the port authority's new CEO. König, who has extensive experience in sustainability and economics and is currently CEO of Groningen Seaports, will start work on 2 June.

River cruises bound for Ghent must now dock at a new pier, which is also equipped with shore power. This sustainable pier, located at the head of the Grootdok, was inaugurated by North Sea Port on Thursday, 20 March.

North Sea Port also records modest growth in the first quarter of 2025

North Sea Port's seaborne cargo throughput increased by almost 1% in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2024. The greater part of the growth – to a total of 16.6 million tons – is attributable to liquid bulk handling. Trade with the United Kingdom continues to increase.
