North Sea Port Conference dedicated to opening of New Lock Terneuzen

Published on Tue 10 Sep 2024
North Sea Port Conference will once again be held this year. On Friday 11 October, the port sector will gather in Terneuzen for the annual port conference. This edition will be entirely dedicated to the opening of the New Lock in Terneuzen.

Following a handful of years of construction, the New Terneuzen Lock will be opened on Friday 11 October by the Dutch King Willem-Alexander and the Belgian King Filip. The North Sea Port Conference 2024 takes place on the same day and - how could it be otherwise - is entirely dedicated to the opening of this Dutch-Flemish investment in the cross-border port area.

What is the global significance of one of Europe’s largest locks? Just how grand is the structure? What will the enhanced maritime access mean for global shipping routes and European transport corridors, for shipping from the North Sea to the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal and vice versa? What will the increased lock capacity mean for maritime and inland navigation? And what are the expectations of existing companies and new investors following the commissioning of the New Lock? You can find out the answers to all these questions at the North Sea Port Conference.

You can visit the New Lock as part of the North Sea Port Conference
