Enviromental Ship Index (ESI)

The cleanest seagoing vessels that call at North Sea Port may receive a discount on the port dues, as stated in the Tariff Regulations, based on their Environmental Ship Index (ESI) score. Making the port tariffs greener suits the commitment of North Sea Port to being a sustainable port.

ESI, established in 2011 by the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), is a voluntary index which rates vessels that are above compliant in reducing air emissions. Scores are given based on NOx, SOx, CO2 emissions and whether or not they have a shore power connection.

North Sea Port is an Incentive Provider of ESI.
