We have seven SDGs to which we as a company actively contribute. By actively addressing these goals, we aim to contribute to providing positive value.
Affordable and sustainable energy
By focusing on renewable energy, CO2 reduction and reuse, we are further developing as an Energy Port. Together with our stakeholders, we are working on a more sustainable future. We do this through various initiatives such as providing shore power for inland shipping and reusing CO2 to make bubbles for sparkling beverages.
Valuable jobs and economic growth
North Sea Port strives to be and remain a European top port. We are aiming at sustainable economic business activities. This way, we contribute to regional welfare and generate value for our environment and stakeholders. By actively thinking along with our stakeholders, we are creating opportunities for growth. Our personal approach enables everyone involved in the port to develop.
Industry, innovation and infrastructure
Providing port infrastructure and open sites to companies is one of our three key tasks. We use the available space in the port area in a well-considered and sustainable way: with the right location of activities in the port area, taking into account both the wishes of companies and contextual location factors. Unlike many competitors, North Sea Port still has a lot of strategic site reserves available for development. As a logistics hub, North Sea Port is accessible by inland waterway, road, rail and pipeline. Companies can therefore easily import and export a whole range of goods.
Responsible consumption and production
With natural raw materials becoming increasingly scarce, knowledge institutions, industry and governments are actively working on innovative solutions to optimise material flows to ensure nothing goes to waste. We play an active role in the search for innovative circular solutions. We bring the partners in and around our port together in a smart way: on the one hand to stimulate cooperation between companies, knowledge institutes and governments across national borders, and on the other hand to facilitate the exchange of residual, waste, energy flows and (by)products
Climate action
Investing in our climate is an important pillar within North Sea Port. To reduce and eventually even neutralise the impact of port activities to the climate, we focus on energy transition, whereby fossil fuels are exchanged for renewable energy sources. Among other things, we are working on Green corridors in cooperation with other ports to reduce emissions.
Life in the waters
As a port authority, we are closely involved in the environment and remain committed to sustainable port infrastructure, reduced emissions and nature development. We also received a European environmental label, the PERS certificate, on 1 March 2023. We continue to strive for a better environment, using various resources.
Partnership to achieve objectives
Central to our strategic plan is partnership as a connecting director in the port area. Our eight programmes each require some form of linkage between parties. This collaboration is much needed, 'Together. Smarter.' is the baseline of North Sea Port for a reason. From this connector role, we also fulfil matters outside our core activities. Such as helping to fill vacancies within the job market.
