Collecting waste

Seagoing vessels produce waste during their journey and waste may be left behind while unloading cargo. It is therefore important that vessels can dispose of their shipping and cargo waste in the port. North Sea Port has a waste management plan in place for maritime shipping on both sides of the border.

A ship’s master or his agent must submit all information regarding shipping waste to North Sea Port by using the ENIGMA electronic port information system (this is mandatory). All registrations, obligations and locations where certain types of waste can be handed in are included in the information system.
