Digital data can now be considered a raw material. North Sea Port is working on collecting this data and developing applications to enable the ever smoother exchange of digital information between companies. This will not only strengthen the logistics chains, but also prevents security from being undermined and enables control by artificial intelligence.
Digitalisation of shipping
Lock planning tool
Better planning helps us save emissions and energy. For example, using the lock planning tool, ships know exactly when they can sail through or dock, allowing them to decide to sail more slowly or drop anchor en route to save fuel.

Enigma+
All ships arriving at or departing from North Sea Port must register electronically via Enigma+. The tool is used, among other functions, to calculate port fees or to order services. Since North Sea Port is a member of the Environmental Ship Index, ships that take sustainable measures receive a discount on port fees.
Digitalisation of logistics chains
Data platforms and port community systems also help us to make logistics processes run more smoothly and safely by bundling goods flows and making logistics processes more efficient. North Sea Port and its partners are not only building a data community of which the North Sea Portal is the digital capstone, but our own port management system will soon be fully digitalised. By seeking collaborations with the ports of Antwerp-Bruges and Rotterdam, we are doing everything we can to strengthen the nautical chain.
