180 years of Vlaeynatie – 10 years at Axelse Vlakte

What began in 1845 as an Antwerp port handling company has grown into a leading logistics player in the region. Since 2015, Vlaeynatie has been operating at the Axelse Vlakte in Westdorpe, where it now also celebrates its 10th anniversary. Alongside the opening of the new warehouses.

Vlaeynatie is therefore not only looking ahead to the future, but also reflecting on a rich history of 180 years of entrepreneurship and innovation.

New warehouses to meet growing demand

With the addition of 30.000 m² of extra storage and processing capacity, Vlaeynatie is strengthening its position as a reliable logistics partner and key player within North Sea Port. This €25 million investment represents an important step in the company’s continued growth and future vision. The three new warehouses will primarily be used for the storage, packaging, and processing of fertilizers. These new warehouses, named “Terminal 3, 4 and 5,” can accommodate both bulk goods and packaged products. The site is also equipped with two brand-new, advanced bagging lines: one for big bags and one for 25 kg bags. With this expansion Vlaeynatie aims to meet the exponential demand for additional logistics solutions for its customers.

“In cooperation with Vlaeynatie, North Sea Port has also built a new road infrastructure leading to the terminal, including a safe cycle path. This promotes efficient, safe, and sustainable transport to and around the company,” says North Sea Port CEO, Cas König

Strategic location and multimodal advantages

Vlaeynatie is highly accessible by water, rail, and road. “Our location in the North Sea Port area, combined with multimodal connectivity, makes us especially attractive to customers looking for alternatives as the port of Antwerp becomes increasingly congested,’’ says Vlaeynatie CEO, Lieven Vander Elstraeten.
