Between the Western Scheldt and the Gent-Terneuzen Canal lies the Terneuzen lock complex. This complex consists of three locks to accommodate vessels of all sizes – from imposing seagoing ships to smaller inland navigation craft.

The Portaal van Vlaanderen organises visits to the locks complex and cruises.

How does a ship get safely from the Western Scheldt to Ghent? How is a barge or a seagoing vessel piloted through the lock? Which companies provide employment? How are imported products transported by land? When you visit the Portaal van Vlaanderen or the Terneuzen lock complex, you will get answers to all these questions and more. The information centre is an attraction in itself and admission is free. You can also enjoy a simple lunch here.
