Its location in Western Europe and its infrastructure make North Sea Port a truly multimodal port. Goods that arrive in the port will then continue their journey by barge, train, truck or even pipeline. This variety of possibilities is a major strength.

North Sea Port is a deepsea port. Because it lies in a naturally formed harbour, the port is (at its furthest point) located 32 kilometres inland. And as a result, North Sea Port enjoys a wide range of connections to the hinterland.

The road network in Europe has reached peak capacity in many areas. North Sea Port therefore feels it is only logical to invest in more sustainable transport via rail and inland shipping. In fact, more than half of goods leaving the port continue their journey by barge.
