Local residents of the Ghent Canal Zone can report environmental complaints to the 'Ghent Canal Zone Environmental Reporting Point'. Reports must be related to port and industrial activities.
The reporting point can be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 0800 92 999 (Belgium – calls are free). If you call during office hours, you will be put through to the municipal environment department or environmental inspectorate:
- City of Ghent: press 1 to be put through to the Living, Building and Environment Department
- Evergem: Environment Department (press 2)
- Zelzate: Environment Department (press 3)
- Flemish Region: Environmental Inspectorate (press 4)
Outside office hours, your call will be forwarded to North Sea Port, Ghent port area. All calls will be answered.
The Ghent Canal Zone Environmental Reporting Point is a partnership between North Sea Port (Ghent port area), the city of Ghent, East Flanders province, Zelzate municipality, Evergem municipality and the Flemish Region.
